An update on the basic tube belay device, the Wild Country VC Pro II is both simple and extremely effective.  The VC Pro II features two belay/descent modes: a standard, smooth side for easily feeding fat ropes and quick descents and a grooved, toothed side to provide extra friction for thinner ropes, heavier climbers, and slower descents.  Made of one solid piece of anodized aluminum, the VC Pro II is tough as nails and ideally paired with the Synergy Lige or Boa carabiners.
